President’s Letter
September, 2015

I love this time of year when we can begin counting down the days to lower humidity and cooler weather! It's hard to believe we are only a few days away from Fall. I hope you all had a good Summer!

In July we joined with several other industry associations in participating in the new Hospitality Industry Icebreaker organized by Discover the Palm Beaches (Palm Beach County Convention & Visitors Bureau). The event drew over 200 industry managers and sales personnel and was a great networking and charity fundraising event with over 500 pounds of school supplies donated for area children. Our Skal booth attracted a lot of attention and enabled us to promote our organization resulting in a number of attendee’s expressing strong interest in joining Skal.

We held our 5th annual Travel & Tourism Industry Summer Social in August. We had a good turnout for the networking event which raised $1,138 for the club and our charity with a wine pull and live auction. A special thanks to all of our members who donated wine for the event. As in past years we gained several new members who attended the function.

What a beautiful night at the Waterstone Resort & Marina in Boca Raton. It was great to be back after presenting them the award for “2014 Venue of the Year”. Once again the food was incredible and the service was top notch! We had 24 attendees including 3 prospective members and a visitor from the Miami club who looks forward to joining our club!

Dick Stafford announced our upcoming venues for the remainder of the year! Be sure to mark your calendars because you aren't going to want to miss one of them!

• October 20th (Tuesday) – Chesterfield Hotel on Palm Beach (Join us after the meeting in the Leopard Lounge for dancing and fun!)

• November 17th (Tuesday) – Windridge Yacht Dinner Cruise in Ft. Lauderdale – Bring your spouse a friend or prospective member!

• December 16th (Wednesday) – Benvenutos – Boynton Beach (Holiday Party & Silent Auction)

I would like to ask all of you for your help in assisting the club and James Hansen in getting Auction items for our Holiday Party from your company or your favorite restaurant, etc.! We are preparing a letter for you to hand out when you approach your personal contacts to ask for a donation. Please let Dick Stafford know if you need this letter and if you have an item for the auction. James Hansen has always done a great job in soliciting auction items as he will do again this year but lets all help him and the club so James can really have fun as our favorite “Auctioneer” – you won’t want to miss this event!

Carlos shared exciting news about our 2015 dues. There will be no increase!!!
