President’s Letter

Greetings fellow Skålleagues,

Well here we are the week of Thanksgiving and I have been thinking about all the things that I personally have to be grateful for this year. Topping that list is my health, my family and all of you, my friends. Sometimes we get so caught up in all the things we have going on in our day to day existence that we forget to take a minute to reflect and say thank you to those who impact our lives ... so, I just wanted to take this moment to say THANK YOU and let you know that I am grateful for your friendship.

For those who missed it, we had our dinner meeting this month at Maggiano's in Boca Raton. The food was great and served family style which was/is a new concept for our group. This month we recognized Bernie Falkow on behalf of the Club and Skål International for his 25 plus years of membership and participation. Congratulations Bernie. Dick presented a banner to the club from Skål International President David Fisher in recognition of our Club's 40th Anniversary celebration. If you remember, David was originally scheduled to join us at our event in June but at the last minute was not able to attend.

We again collected funds for Hurricane Relief through Tourism Cares by having a "small change basket" on each table. Thanks to everyone for their donations which will be forwarded to SKÀL USA for distribution through Tourism Cares along with last month's donations.

The highlight of the evening was our election of Officers for your 2018 Board of Directors which I am happy to say was unanimously approved by the club membership. Congratulations to the 2018 Board of Directors for Skål International Fort Lauderdale & the Palm Beaches which is listed below. I know you will do the club proud.

Coming up so quickly is our Annual Holiday Party which will be on Wednesday December 13th at Benvenuto's, so pull out your holiday tie and your cocktail attire and get ready for some great food, music and dancing. Then, of course, there will be our silent and live auction hosted by celebrity auctioneer Becky Reincke (no pressure Becky) who is busily honing her skills and at the same time gathering auction items for both the live and silent auctions. If you have an item you would like to donate to the auction please let Becky or Dick know. Well, I am off to polish my dancing shoes.
