Minutes of Board Meeting

Tuesday, January17, 2006

The January 17, 2006 meeting of the Palm Beach SKAL Board of Directors was called to order at 5:05PM.

Those present at the meeting were: Richard Stafford, Paul Alterman, Carlos Banks, Stefan Richter, Sandy Saposnick, Cindy Christen, Wayne M. Lampert and Lee Smolinski.
Absent due to travel - Paul Cook.

Secretary's Report: The minutes of the November 2005 meeting were reviewed and unanimously approved.

Treasurer's Report: Paul Alterman presented the treasurers report. Cash on hand as of December 31, 2005 was $2,717.04. The Silent Auction at the December Dinner Dance raised $884.00. Dues for the 2006 year have been sent out with payment required by January 31, 2006. Any member who has not paid their dues by then will not be included in the club's roster that will be sent to Spain. To date we have had four members indicate that they will not be renewing their membership in SKAL.

SIUSA Representatives Report: The nominating committee's recommendations for officers and board members will be voted on at the dinner by the membership. We will also offer members a chance to purchase raffle tickets for the upcoming Congress in Thailand. SKAL International has approved a new membership category for restaurants that are involved in tourism. The qualifications for this category were reviewed with the board. The SIUSA elections were discussed with the board voting on the candidates that the club would vote for prior to January 31, 2006

Future Locations and Programs Report: Wayne Lampert went over the upcoming venues for the next few months. They are:
February 21, 2006 - we will be at the Marriott - City Place in West Palm Beach

March 21, 2006 - we will be at the Renaissance in Ft. Lauderdale

April 18, 2006 - we will be at the Marriott in Boca Raton

Sandy Saposnick is attempting to obtain a date for the club to tour one of her cruise ships like we did last year.

Membership Report: Carlos Banks reported that we have four prospective new members that will be joining the club in January. We will be inducting Bernhard Kainer as a new member tonight.

Auctions and Raffles Report: See Treasurers report.

Welfare: Jan West is recovering from hip replacement surgery and hopes to join us in February.

New Business: Charity donations will be reviewed at the February board meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:25PM.
