President’s Letter
February, 2016
Once again we were welcomed to the West Palm Beach Marriott with open arms! They always provide us
with a beautiful room, delicious selections for entrees and the best dessert! Cheri Rutledge is the GM and also a
member of our Club! I hope more of you will be able to attend when we select the West Palm Beach Marriott again for
a future meeting!
Thank you to everyone who made their way to West Palm Beach! We were delighted to welcome Rick Fisher
and his lovely wife from the Skal Club in Vancouver. They took advantage of one of the benefits of belonging to Skal
by looking for a Club in the area they were visiting and making new friends in Skal! It was a pleasure to present our
Club banner to Rick to take back to his Club in Vancouver.
Two new members, Valerie Shirey and Terese Ternullo were very happy to receive their Skal pins
during the dinner.
The 2016 Slate of Officers and Directors was presented and approved by attending members.
The Installation of Officers and Directors will take place at our dinner at the Via Mizner Country Club
in Boca Raton on April 19th. We will have representatives from SIUSA attending so please make every effort
to join us as we look back over the past year and celebrate our New Board!

The ballots for the 2015 Venue of the Year have been counted and we are very pleased to announce
that the winner is the Chesterfield Hotel. The award will be presented to the Chesterfield at the April 19th
installation Dinner.
Carlos Banks informed everyone of our new payment plan for future meetings. By having members
and guests pre-paying for the dinner, not only will it save our Club the expense of paying for last minute
cancellations or no shows but it will give Carlos an opportunity to enjoy the evening too with the rest of
us instead of collecting all of the dinner payments during the reception hour.
Dick Stafford spoke about the upcoming Seatrade Cruise Global 2016 Convention in Ft. Lauderdale
and the Dinner Cruise our Club is hosting aboard the Windridge K. Yacht on Tuesday March 15th. Please click
on the Evite and RSVP
for the cruise and add the names of the guests you will be bringing in the comment section.
The invitation has been sent to over 130 Skal Club Presidents around the world who have members who might be
attending the convention. We look forward to having the opportunity to meet fellow International Skalleagues
and having a great turnout from our members on the cruise.
