President’s Letter March 17, 2015
What a great way to spend St. Paddy's Day!
A big thank you goes out to Cheri Rutledge and her incredible staff
for making it such a special evening for all of us at the West Palm
Beach Marriott! We had 11 members and 10 guests in attendance.
We enjoyed the presentations from Jorge Pesquera, President and CEO of
Discover the Palm Beaches and our guest speakers Glen Jergensen, Executive
Director of Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council and Manny Almira,
Executive Director of the Port of Palm Beach.
This was the perfect time for Carlos and I to pin Jorge Pesquera and Mike
Castro who haven’t been able to attend our meetings for a while. What made
it really special was having Mike’s daughter Amanda stand beside him during
the pinning. She is very interested in getting into a hospitality program when
she enters college. She would be a great Young Skal member in the future!
Dick announced Waterstone Resort & Marina, Boca Raton, as the winner of the
“Venue of the Year Award”. They will be invited to attend our April 21st Installation
Dinner for the presentation of their award. In addition to Installing our new Officers and
Directors we will have the pleasure of inducting a number of new members during the evening's
festivities. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!!
A networking event has been planned for July 22nd by Discover the Palm Beaches for hospitality
organizations in Palm Beach County. We have always wanted an opportunity to promote Skal International
to others in our industry so now it’s happening! Mark this date on your calendar because we would love to
see as many of our members attend as possible. More information to come!
Let’s wish our members “Happy Birthday”!
April Birthdays

Yours in Skål,
