President’s Letter
March 15, 2017
We had a great evening at the Hyatt Place Hotel and Mezzaluna Restaurant in Ft Lauderdale in
conjunction with the Seatrade Cruise Convention. Thanks to Andrew Volkmann for making the
arrangements for us. Andrew gave everyone a tour of the Hyatt Place and provided information
about the hotel at the end of the reception before we walked over to the restaurant. We had an
excellent dinner on the patio which was comfortable and enjoyed talking with our visiting Skalleagues
from Ireland who were attending the convention. During the dinner we welcomed and pinned our newest
member Carol Tracz the Director of Sales at the Riverside Hotel. We then presented our club banners
to our international guests Margret Cronin from Dublin and her brother Derry from Cork. Margret had
served as the Skål President of Ireland as well as President of her own Skål Club in Dublin.
The Installation of Officers dinner will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Deerfield
Beach on April 18th and we will again have Skål USA President Holly Powers joining us. Please
save the date for our club's 40th Anniversary Party which will be held on June 13th. David Fisher
the President of Skål International from Kenya will be joining us as well as Holly Powers before
they leave to go to Toronto for the NASC Congress which starts on June 15th. The venue and plans
for the event will be announced shortly.
