President’s Letter September, 2014
Fellow Skalleagues,
Hard to believe it’s officially Fall? It’s always hard to move to the next season when we are still experiencing our beautiful
weather in Florida except for a few rain showers.
For those who joined us at the September dinner meeting our members and guests had a great time. If you were not able to attend the dinner you
missed another great Skal evening! What really made it enjoyable was the incredible views of the inter-coastal and ocean from the new Waterstone
Resort & Marina in Boca Raton. The new owners and management team have done an incredible job with the renovations and new staff. If you haven’t
experienced it yet you might want to give it a try.
We started our meeting with a moment of silence for Bill Pullen for the loss of his wife Anita, and Lee Smolinski for the loss of his father. Our
sympathy goes out to both of their families.
We had a large turnout of attendees including our members, guests and 3 prospective new members. The food was delicious and the service was top notch!
Carlos gave us an update on the summer NCM in Tucson, his trip to Paris to represent SIUSA at the 80th anniversary celebration of Skal International and
the upcoming SI World Congress in Mexico.
Our Annual Travel & Tourism Industry Summer Social at the Marriott Resort in Pompano Beach drew a great crowd of new faces to Skal. As a result we
expect to have several of the participants become new members. The wine pull and hotel stay raffles were a huge success and netted the club over $1,200.
Our special thanks to the members who donated wine and the hotel stays for the event.
Be sure to mark your calendars for the next few meetings because you aren’t going to want to miss one of them! Join us so you can talk about what a
fun time we have!
October 21st (Tuesday) – Fritz & Franz Bierhaus, Ft. Lauderdale (Oktoberfest - Fun evening ahead!)
November 18th (Tuesday) – Marriott Singer Island
(It’s so beautiful on the beach….you won’t want to miss it!)
December 10th (Wednesday) – Benvenutos (Holiday Dinner Dance Party & Silent Auction)
The Board is still looking for your ideas! We want to make our meetings interesting by finding fun venues and inviting speakers to increase our knowledge of
our industry. If you have any suggestions on a speaker or a place to hold a future meeting, please feel free to share your ideas with us.
Don’t forget to respond to your Evite for October 21st! I hope you can join us and bring a guest! It sounds like it’s going to be a fun night!
Yours in Skål,
Becky Reincke President
